A World of Wonder Awaits You in London

London has attracted visitors for centuries, and if London is on your bucket list or if you are eager for a return visit, there are several opportunities to easily get there from Phoenix. Both American Airlines and British Airways offer nonstop daily service between Phoenix and London Heathrow Airport.

Once you’ve arrived, you can enjoy the many activities the city has to offer. Here are some recommendations:

For a true sense of history, visit historic landmarks such as the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben. Be sure to book your tours in advance as demand is high.

Looking to dive into more history and art? The British Museum is a must. The main areas of the Museum are free to see, and you can enjoy incredible objects from across the globe like the Rosetta Stone. Other museums include Tate Modern and the free National Gallery which features iconic paintings from Van Gogh and Monet.

A trip to London wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Buckingham Palace. Though guided tours are only offered certain times of the year, you can walk by and witness the palace and watch the changing of the guard certain days of the week as well. Speaking of palaces, there are others in the area such as Kensington Palace which is the official residence of William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales. You can stop by and stroll the beautiful gardens.

As you walk along the Thames River, you’ll see famous sites such as the Tower Bridge and the London Eye. The London Eye is a 30-minute ride that provides incredible views of the city. Another place with great city views is the Shard. Visitors can visit floors 68, 69 and 72 for panoramic city views.

Of course, if you’re visiting London and want to do a little shopping, you will not be disappointed with the lack of options. Covent Garden and Oxford Street are great areas to do a little shopping, and the famous Harrods is a must visit.

If you’re in town and want to see a show, you’ll have endless options as well in London’s West End theatre district. Be sure to check the calendar of events before you go and get your tickets in advance.

London truly offers something for everyone – whether it is art and history, specialty dining, shopping, entertainment, or nightlife. London is also a great starting point for exploration throughout the United Kingdom, and while you’re there you can also do easy daytrips to Windsor Castle, Bath, Harry Potter Studios and much more.
