PAAB Member Susan A. Ehrlich

Susan A. Ehrlich is a former law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, attorney in the United States Department of Justice Civil Division Appellate Section in Washington, D.C., Assistant U.S. Attorney (Chief, Appellate Section) for the District of Arizona, and Judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals. She graduated from Wellesley College, and she has two law degrees from Arizona State University: a Juris Doctorate and a Masters of Law in biotechnology and genomics law.

Among her many activities, Judge Ehrlich has served as a reviewer for United States Department of Energy grant applications pertaining to the ethical, legal and social implications of the Human Genome Project, as a U.S. Department of Energy Distinguished Research Fellow, as the single member designated to represent the public interest on the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, and as a member and the chair of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Synthetic Biology Engineering Research Center. She now serves on the Institutional Review Board of Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the Central Institutional Review Board of the U.S. Department of Energy and the Osborn School District Educational Foundation as well as several other community boards and commissions.
