Sky Harbor at Night

The FAA will hold open-house workshops for community members to discuss new or ongoing flightpath concerns with FAA officials and review FAA’s implementation of Step 1 flightpath changes in 2018, in accordance with the 2017 lawsuit settlement. The FAA has provided an official comment period for all comments that will begin April 24th and go to May 23rd. Following the workshops and public comment period, FAA will consider community feedback and concerns, and may initiate new airspace changes at their sole discretion. As community members will recall, the FAA postponed the Step 2 workshops (originally scheduled for February 2019) due to the federal government shutdown earlier this year.

The City has been hosting numerous workshops, which are an open house format with no formal presentation. There are multiple stations set up at the workshops with experts from a variety of areas to address any concerns. This is an opportunity for residents to ask any questions pertaining to the FAA’s flight paths, and have access to technical airspace planning experts. Community members are welcome to drop into the workshops any time.

Regularly Scheduled Meetings

Staff also presents an FAA Changes in Aircraft Departure Procedures Update at the monthly Downtown, Aviation and Redevelopment Subcommittee meeting. These meetings are open to the public and are usually held at 10 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month.  More information
