The transmittal letter has been posted on this page. The FAA’s review is expected to occur over the next several months.

Result of Nov. 15, 2017 Phoenix City Council Formal Meeting
On Nov. 15, 2017 the Phoenix City Council voted in favor of submitting the PHX Land Reuse Strategy and community preferred framework for redevelopment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for consideration.

The submittal to the FAA will include an addendum report showing 1) a supplemental land use redevelopment framework prepared by the Nuestro Barrio Unidos Neighborhood Association that proposes expanding the residential core village concept in the Central portion of the planning area and 2) a supplemental concept concerning the formation of a historic district focused on key historical figures and institutions in the planning area.

Next Steps
The submittal package will be delivered to the FAA for their review and comment. Information about the implementation phase of the strategy will come in early 2018.

Thank You!
Over the past two years, we have:

  • Had 20 collaborative public community meetings with nearly 700 participants
  • Provided project updates at more than 90 meetings with neighborhood associations, individual residents, school boards, area businesses, non-profits, and more
  • Provided 1,500 flyers to area schools for students to bring home to inform their families
  • Delivered 400 door hangers to area residents
  • Delivered postcard mailers to 1,012 properties
