New York, Jul 1 - - Today, British Airways celebrates the 20th anniversary of its flights between Phoenix, the Valley of the Sun, and London.

On July 1, 1996 British Airways’ DC 10 named “Epping Forest” departed London Gatwick for Phoenix, the first nonstop service between the two cities, with onward connection to San Diego. Since that first flight, the service delinked from San Diego and moved to London Heathrow in 2002, where customers are now able to connect to over 130 cities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Today, British Airways operates a daily service operated by a Boeing 747 offering a choice of four cabins: the airline’s highly acclaimed First, the award-winning Club World (business cabin), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy class).

Robert Antoniuk, British Airways’ VP Customer Service and Operations, North America West, said “We are delighted to be celebrating this special anniversary in Phoenix. British Airways has been flying this route for 20 years now and we’re thrilled that it’s the only daily transatlantic service from Phoenix. We thank the city and all our customers who travel to London and beyond, whether for business or pleasure
for their support and we look forward to welcoming everyone again on board.”
Director of Aviation Services Jim Bennett said “We are honored to celebrate British Airways’ 20th anniversary at Phoenix Sky Harbor. British Airways provides an essential connection between Arizona and Europe. The flight boosts our economy, increases our tourism, and provides a vital link for businesses.”

Customers traveling on British Airways flights can enjoy complimentary meals and bar service while watching on-demand movies on their personal TV screens. Also, British Airways ‘Feed Kids First’ service allows parents and children to relax and enjoy the trip.

British Airways Vacations offers a range of flight+hotel and flight+car packages, as well as sightseeing tours, city passes, theatre tickets, around the world to suit all budgets. All British Airways customers enjoy benefits such as free meals and beverages, as well as free baggage allowance and seat allocation.
