48th Life Saved at Phoenix Sky Harbor
On Sunday, July 31, Brenda, who was visiting from Florida, collapsed in the airport. An AED was retrieved and administered. With the help of two nurses, who were nearby, as well as Phoenix Fire and airport staff, her life was saved. On August 3, Brenda stopped by the Airport to greet the two firefighters who saved her life. She expressed her gratitude and had a chance to check out Fire Station 19 and ride in a truck.
This is the 48th life that has been saved at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport since the AED program began in 2001. There are more than 85 AEDs available at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Phoenix Deer Valley and Phoenix Goodyear airports. AEDs are also available in the PHX Sky Train® stations.Pictured above from left to right: Dr. John V Gallagher (EMS Medical Director, Phoenix Fire Department), Branden Leon (Firefighter/Paramedic Station 19), Lester (Brenda's husband), Brenda, and Brandon Burgess (Firefighter/Paramedic Station 19).
