A Layover in Phoenix Offers Many Opportunities at Sky Harbor

Connecting through PHX and have a layover of a few hours? Wondering what you might be able to do to occupy your time? Don’t worry, PHX Sky Harbor has a variety of activities to keep you entertained.

Enjoy art? Phoenix Airport Museum, located throughout Sky Harbor, is one of the largest airport art museums in the United States. Showcasing Arizona’s unique artistic and cultural heritage, the museum includes an exhibition program and an art collection of 900 works. Check out free exhibitions in the many display spaces throughout all terminals.

If you enjoy art and history and have a longer layover, why not take some time to see the Pueblo Grande Museum? The Pueblo Grande Museum is an archeological site that is dedicated to preserving the history of Arizona’s first peoples. To get there from the Airport, simply take the free PHX Airport Shuttle to the Light Rail stop at 44th Street and Washington. Then walk across the street to the museum (it is on the southeast corner). Prices are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors 55 and over, $3 for children 6-17 and free for children under 5 years old. Perhaps shopping sounds like a more exciting way to spend your extra time. If you need a gift for someone or want something for yourself, Sky Harbor has a wide-variety of shops offering Arizona souvenirs, jewelry and sports attire. Pick up an Airport Guide to see what is available in each terminal or use your mobile phone to see what shops are near your gate.

If you’re hungry, try many of the food options available. Sky Harbor offers a multitude of dining experiences on both sides of security. Terminal 4 even has several new restaurants.
