Sky Harbor Celebrates its Navigators!

Sky Harbor observed National Volunteer Week April 19-25 by giving special recognition to its 320 Navigators. Entering into its ninth year, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Navigator volunteer program continues to help thousands of passengers every day.

The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week was “Celebrating People in Action,” and there is certainly no lack of action at an airport. As a small thank you, Airport employees wore stickers that read "We Love (heart) our Navigator Volunteers." Jeri Walker, Airport Museum , supports Sky Harbor’s Navigators in the photo on the right.

In fact, NBA Suns superstar Steve Nash stopped a Navigator in the terminal and thanked the Navigator for everything they do! Thank you to all Phoenicians for your support of the Navigator volunteers and their countless hours that they donate to our airport.

As a Navigator, volunteers receive training, uniforms, parking privileges and have a lot of fun. Navigators greet the Airport's more than 100,000 daily visitors as well as provide information, directions and assistance. Interested participants are encouraged to go to or call 602-273-4017 for more information. Training classes are held periodically throughout the year.
