Phoenix, AZ – Visitors from across the country will be arriving into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this week in preparation for the College Football Playoff National Championship that is taking place on Monday, January 11, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. More than 80,000 fans are expected to visit the Valley, and America’s Friendliest Airport® is going to be busy.
Enjoy an easier travel experience by following these tips before your arrival:

Have questions while you are here? Ask one of our friendly volunteer Navigators easily recognized in their purple jackets and shirts. They will be positioned with College Football Playoff volunteers who can answer questions about all College Football Playoff events.
Picking up friends or family flying in for the game? Why not use the 44th Street and Washington PHX Sky Train® Station? Avoid roadway traffic and terminal curb congestion by picking up and dropping off at this handy alternative. Travelers can hop aboard the PHX Sky Train® and reach the airport terminals in a matter of minutes. Locals Know Where To Go.
Travel Tips for Departing passengers, especially on January 12 (the day after the game):
Remember 3-2-1. 3 hours before departure – Check in at the Ticket Counter; 2 hours before departure – Get in line at the TSA Security Checkpoint; and 1 hour before departure – Be at your gate. Phoenix Sky Harbor is going to be busy. Give yourself extra time.
If you have a College Football Playoff program, please place it in your carry-on bag. For questions about carry-on and checked items, visit TSA.gov
Use Early Bag Check to save time and skip the airline ticket counter. If you are returning a rental car, check your bags before boarding the Rental Car Shuttle. Bags can be checked between 4 hours to 1 1/2 hours before your flight. This service is available for those flying American Airlines, Southwest, or United. No additional charge though individual airline bag fees apply. If you are using Valley Metro Rail or being dropped off at the 44th Street and Washington PHX Sky Train® Station, Early Bag Check is also available there.
Check your flight status before coming to the airport.
