PHOENIX - A new program complementing the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s popular Global Entry is now available at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
“Enrollment on Arrival” enables conditionally-approved Global Entry applicants to conduct their in-person interview upon arrival; eliminating the need for applicants to schedule an interview at an enrollment center.
The program is expected to shorten enrollment wait times at busy enrollment areas. Phoenix joins five other airports that have implemented Enrollment on Arrival.
“Phoenix Sky Harbor is pleased to be among the first major airports to roll out this new feature of the Global Entry program,” said Director of Aviation Services James E. Bennett. “U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a great partner and this fits in perfectly with our mission to provide outstanding customer service every day.”
In Phoenix, a conditionally-approved traveler for Global Entry may complete the enrollment interview during Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) primary inspection at Sky Harbor. A CBP officer conducts the interview and collects the traveler’s biometrics to complete the enrollment. The traveler is then cleared for entry into the United States as a Global Entry member.
Global Entry is a CBP program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter the U.S. through automatic kiosks at dozens of major airports, including Sky Harbor.
Travelers must be pre-approved for the Global Entry program, which requires travelers to undergo a rigorous background check in addition to the in-person interview. U.S citizens and U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents may apply for Global Entry, as well as citizens of certain countries with which CBP has trusted-traveler agreements.
Interested travelers may apply through the Global Online Enrollment System (GOES). There is a non-refundable application fee of $100 for a 5-year Global Entry membership, and applications must be submitted online.

Quotes from Phoenix City Council
“The ‘Enrollment on Arrival’ program will shorten enrollment wait times for travelers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This is important to our regional economy as aviation contributes to many industries by facilitating their growth and supporting their operations, even if these industries are far removed from the direct or indirect components of the aviation sector itself.”
