STA Fee Restructuring - Air Carriers That Fingerprint Their Employees

Sky Harbor at Night

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PSHIA) utilizes the services of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Transportation Security Clearinghouse (TSC) to help fulfill one of the many Transportation Security Administration (TSA) federal mandates. The AAAE TSC provides vetting services by processing the Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA) of all PSHIA airport badge applicants.

On Jan. 4, 2010, the AAAE TSC began charging PSHIA for the STA vetting services at a rate of $7 per initial submission. Effective Feb. 20, 2010, PSHIA will start charging new badge applicants the cost associated with submitting STA’s. The new STA fee will apply to new employees only, and is for the initial or first-time STA submission on an application for an Airport badge. If employees of your company are currently exempt from submitting STA’s, then your employees will continue to be exempt from paying the STA service fee.
