90th Anniversary Employee Spotlight: Barbara M.
For Barbara M., an Administrative Assistant with 18 years at Phoenix Sky Harbor, the airport is more than just a workplace. It is a place filled with growth, history and pride. Supporting the Design and Construction Services Division, Barbara plays a key role in helping teams successfully manage complex projects that shape the airport’s future.
A Phoenix native, Barbara recalls growing up near the airport, watching planes soar overhead and seeing Terminals 1, 2 and 3 long before Terminal 4 was built. “I’ve always heard the planes coming and going for as long as I can remember,” she says. One of her favorite moments was witnessing the first plane pass under the PHX Sky Train® bridge, calling it a moment of history right before her eyes.
Barbara has had a front-row seat for decades of change. She has seen each of the PHX Sky Train® stations open one at a time, the demolition of Terminal 2, the expansion of Terminal 4, the modernization of Terminal 3 and even the arrival of autonomous Waymo vehicles navigating the airport. As Phoenix Sky Harbor celebrates 90 years, Barbara sums it up best: “The sky is not the limit at Phoenix Sky Harbor!”
