Oh, The Places You Can Go

As 2025 comes to an end, it’s time to start thinking about 2026 travel plans. 2025 has been a milestone year for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport as many new routes to exciting destinations have launched. In fact, the airport currently offers more nonstop destinations than it ever has before. Looking for travel inspiration? Here’s a recap of some of the destinations we’ve featured. All offer a blend of rich cultural experiences, great scenery, exhilarating activities, and more.

Taipei
Travel & Leisure recently named Taiwan one of the most underrated destinations. With new flights to Taipei, it’s easy to get to Taiwan and explore all the country has to offer. China Airlines just started nonstop service on Dec. 3, and STARLUX begins service on Jan. 15. Taipei offers a blend of traditional and modern attractions. Visitors can explore culinary delights as well as visit attractions like the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101.

Ottawa
Starting Feb. 7, Porter Airlines will offer nonstop service between Phoenix and Ottawa. This is the first-ever service between the two cities. Ottawa is a vibrant winter destination with activities like the Winterlude Festival and ice skating on the Rideau Canal. The city also offers numerous museums, a stunning Parliament Hill, the ByWard Market District and more.

Santa Maria
Offering a blend of beaches, gorgeous scenery, and wineries, Santa Maria is a quick getaway from PHX with a lot to offer. American Airlines launched new flights in October. Enjoy exploring the region’s renowned wineries and beautiful coastline. Pro tip: Try the barbeque while you’re there.

Mexico City
History, culture, and delicious dining options await visitors to Mexico City. Check out the city’s UNESCO-lined historic center with the National Palace and Templo Mayor. Hop over to the Frida Kahlo Museum. Take a ride on a traditional trajinera boat. The options are endless, and flights are available on Aeromexico and American Airlines.

Monterrey
Want to experience more of Mexico? Check out Monterrey. It offers a blend of history and culture. See the Bishop’s Palace, roam through the Barrio Antigua neighborhood or go hiking in the Chipinque Econological Park.

Sun Valley
Looking to hit the slopes or maybe enjoy some après ski? Hop onboard American Airlines to visit the country’s first ski resort. Sun Valley offers not just skiing and snowboarding but other winter sports like snowshoeing and ice-skating set in the picturesque mountains of Idaho.

Edmonton
Are festivals and outdoor activities more your speed? Don’t miss Edmonton. Check out the Edmonton International Fringe Festival or see some of the fantastic and breathtaking scenery Alberta, Canada is known for by hiking in Elk Island National Park or visiting Jasper National Park.

New York
The Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, Broadway. The list goes on and on in the city that never sleeps. New York truly has something for everyone whether you’re looking to experience history, entertainment, shopping or culinary treats, you can’t go wrong with a trip to the Big Apple.

Paris
Paris, the City of Light, is now more accessible than ever with nonstop flights from Phoenix on Air France. Explore the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. Wander through charming neighborhoods like Le Marais. Take in the art. Take in the cafes. Take in the scenery. Paris is always a good idea and also makes a great starting point to exploring the Loire Valley, Burgundy and more destinations throughout the country.
