Airport Trauma Bleeding Training – “Stop the Bleed”
Airport Navigator volunteers and contracted guest services staff members recently took part in training to help respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies. The Phoenix Fire Department led the session on trauma bleeding control at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for more than 40 team members. It provided an overview of the “Stop the Bleed” kits, which are located in key areas throughout the airport. Participants learned how to identify life-threatening bleeding and the three key techniques to stop it: applying direct pressure, packing a wound and correctly using a tourniquet. This hands-on session gave everyone the chance to practice each skill with personalized guidance. By the end, participants were better prepared to act quickly and confidently in emergency situations to potentially save lives before professional medical help arrives.
