Celebrating Airport Workers Day: Spotlight on Rising Star Taylor
Airport Workers Day is a time to recognize the people who keep our airports running 24/7 — safely, efficiently, and seamlessly. From building infrastructure and managing terminals to ensuring security and enhancing the passenger experience, airport employees are the heart of the aviation industry. Each role, whether visible or behind the scenes, plays a vital part in moving more than two million passengers daily across the skies.
Airport Workers Day was held on June 25. As part of this, we are spotlighting an employee who is making a strong impact and represents the future of our industry. That individual is Taylor S. Since joining the department in 2023 as an Aviation Planning Project Manager, Taylor has brought energy, insight, and a forward-thinking approach to projects like the Terminal 4 North Concourse optimization study, Boeing 777X planning, Comprehensive Asset Management Plan (CAMP) implementation planning, solar energy environmental compliance, and more. Her ability to balance long-term strategic planning with day-to-day impact makes her a standout.
But Taylor’s contributions extend beyond planning. She has become a leader in community service, volunteering more than 40 hours and chairing the Department’s Community Service Fund Drive. With this, she directed a team of 20 to plan and execute multiple fundraising events, exceeding the campaign goal. Her creative “Doggie Director” campaign raised more than $5,500, making it the most successful citywide fundraising initiative of the year.
What truly sets Taylor apart is her enthusiasm for aviation and her dedication to inspiring the next generation. Whether speaking to high school students, planning family-friendly events, or mentoring college students, she brings the world of airport planning to life. A recent talk at the airport’s Youth Aviation Academy delighted teens in attendance. Taylor presented her work in planning in a relatable way and spoke about a unique scholarship program for those interested in planning and working in the government sector. She even offered to mentor those interested in applying.
Taylor also holds the Certified Member designation through the American Association of Airport Executives and earned an AICP through the American Planning Association. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, pickleball and golf, and spending time with friends and family.
Taylor embodies the spirit of innovation, service and passion that defines our industry’s future. We’re honored to recognize her this Airport Workers Day.
