90th Anniversary Employee Spotlight: Lea C. – Making the Airport a Family Business

Lea C. has spent more than two decades with the City of Phoenix Aviation Department, helping travelers start and end their journey on the right foot. As Aviation Superintendent, she leads the Parking and Rental Car Center operation, a vital component to ensuring a smooth airport experience.

“Parking is often the first and last impression passengers have of Sky Harbor,” Lea explains. “We work hard to make that interaction seamless.”

Lea's career began with a spark of curiosity that quickly grew into a lasting passion. Her connection to work runs deep, as her mother also worked for the department and recently retired after 20 years of service. Drawn in by the airport’s exciting environment and family ties, Lea found a career she truly enjoys.

Over the years, she’s contributed to everything from high-profile presidential visits and professional sports team charters to major projects like the PHX Sky Train® and the opening of new parking facilities. One standout memory is when America West Airlines merged with US Airways and marked the occasion with a wedding-themed event at Terminal 4 — a perfect example of the unexpected and memorable moments that come with working at the airport.

Lea is proud to celebrate Phoenix Sky Harbor’s 90th anniversary and reflect on the airport’s incredible transformation. Looking ahead, she sees a bright future filled with innovation that will continue to enhance the traveler’s experience.
