90th Anniversary Employee Spotlight: Rodolfo D.
Rodolfo D. has been helping keep the runways and roadways of the airport clean and safe for more than two decades. As a Motor Broom Equipment Operator, he is trained to work on the airfield itself, operating specialized equipment while staying in close communication with the air traffic control tower.
To Rodolfo, being around aircraft never gets old. “It’s unique work,” he said. “You need certification to even be out there, and not everybody has that. It’s a privilege.”
He’s proud of the skills and training the Aviation Department provides its team and values the long-term working relationships he’s built. One of his favorite memories is the old employee Christmas parties, where coworkers would gather, dance and even win special experiences like helicopter ride-alongs. Rodolfo has also proudly represented the department in events like the annual Fiesta Bowl Parade.
He remembers traveling through the airport with his parents in the 1970s and has watched it grow ever since. From the increase in airlines and destinations to the addition of the PHX Sky Train® and expanded terminals, Rodolfo has seen PHX evolve, and he’s ready to sweep the path forward.
