Deer Valley, Goodyear Airports Achieve Carbon Management Milestone
Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (DVT) and Phoenix Goodyear Airport (GYR) have earned Level 3 status for the first time in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program for reporting year 2024.
The accreditation recognizes the airports’ efforts in measuring and verifying emissions, supporting long-term carbon management, and collaborating with stakeholders, including tenants and fixed-base operators. Both airports completed energy audits and implemented initiatives to reduce emissions, including high-efficiency lighting and motors, expanded electric vehicle use, on-site solar arrays, and increased use of renewable energy from the regional grid.
DVT and GYR now join Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in the program, which renewed its Level 4 certification for 2024. Together, the three airports make Phoenix one of the few U.S. cities with multiple airports recognized for carbon management.
The DVT and GYR airports are owned and operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department. DVT is the busiest general aviation airport in the U.S. and serves private, corporate and training flights. GYR is located in the West Valley city of Goodyear and supports private, corporate and training operations.
All three airports were recognized at the Airports Council International Annual General Assembly in Toronto in October.
