A Beverage Tailor-made for Travelers

Two optometrists who have seen more than 80,000 patients over 20 years in practice decided to try on another set of hats: beverage creators.

Drs. Amy and Tom Czyz of Scottsdale developed a brand of drinks known as Sly™ and they are selling their wares catering to travelers in Phoenix Sky Harbor.

It started with a desire to find a beverage that tasted better than water and was healthier than soft drinks, and both Amy and Tom wanted the drinks to have a purpose that was based on humans’ circadian rhythm. Hence was born the term “Circadian Beverages®.”

“We found a need in beverage for things that could really benefit people especially around circadian rhythm, which is super important for travel,” said Amy.

Their prototype product, INTENT®, was marketed to moms but they discovered the people who frequently sought their drinks were professional athletes: Arizona Cardinals players requested their products, as did a pair of Phoenix Suns players. Then the racquetball division of TEAM USA made them an Official Drink Partner.

Fast forward to today and their lineup of drinks, now called Sly™, is available at retail shops in PHX.

“We basically went out to the community for two-and-a-half years and found out what they wanted,” said Tom.

“We really want Sly to be from the people,” Amy added.
