Spotlight on Taipei
You may have heard Phoenix Sky Harbor is getting nonstop service to Asia. Both China Airlines and STARLUX Airlines are selling tickets for nonstop service between Phoenix and Taipei, Taiwan. China Airline’s service begins Dec. 3, and STARLUX’s flights launch Jan. 15.
Taipei is a vibrant city with many things to do. Here are some ideas to inspire you as you plan your trip.
First, visit the National Palace Museum. It is home to more than 700,000 Chinese art and historical treasures. Then, stop by the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. This monument is set in beautiful gardens and has a regular ceremonial changing of the guard as well as Instagram-worthy architecture.
Seeking a thrill? Ride one of the fastest elevators in the world at Taipei 101. You’ll be able to visit the 89th floor for views of the city.
Night markets are incredibly popular in Taipei. Visitors have several options including the Shilin Night Market. This is the largest in Taiwan and offers street food, souvenirs, karaoke and more. The Raohe Street Night Market is smaller but offers an opportunity to try many local foods.
For more views and to experience nature, check out the Taipei Zoo. From there, take the Maokong Gondola up to the hills. There, visitors will be able to enjoy tea and mountain views. Xiangshan, also known as Elephant Mountain, is a popular area for hiking. It offers great views of Taipei and Taipei 101.
While in Taipei, don’t miss your chance to check out Dihua Street, the city’s oldest, and the Ximending district for shopping, dining and nightlife.
