Up Next: The Taxiway U Bridge Deck Will Take Shape
Progress continues on the Taxiway Uniform project, and crews will soon begin setting the deck for the first new bridge. Approximately 6,000 tons of concrete will be required to form the bridge deck. Later phases of the project will include building bridge sections over Buckeye Road and westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard.
The elevated taxiway bridges are designed to improve airfield connectivity and efficiency. Once finished, Taxiway U will help aircraft move more smoothly, reduce taxi times and support future growth at the airport.
Meanwhile, Buckeye Road between Copperhead Drive and 25th Place remains closed until further notice for realignment work. Drivers should follow posted detours and allow extra travel time. Access to the airport terminal is not affected.
Taxiway U project construction will continue through 2027.
