PHX Green Business Partner Program Honored
The Aviation Department is the recipient of the Award of Distinction for its PHX Green Business Partner Program. The honor came in March at the Arizona Forward Environmental Excellence Awards.
The award was given in the category of “Sustainability in Action.”
In 2024, the Aviation Department Sustainability Team launched the PHX Green Business Partner Program to encourage, support, and recognize businesses within the airport prioritizing sustainability initiatives. The program contributes to a more sustainable aviation industry. It establishes, supports, and recognizes a community of stakeholders prioritizing sustainability initiatives.
Businesses in the program are encouraged to implement sustainable practices that align with PHX's sustainability focus areas, such as energy efficiency measures, waste reduction strategies, responsible sourcing practices, water conservation efforts, and community outreach activities.
Through joint projects, resource and information sharing, the program drives innovation and improves environmental practices at the airport. The program has grown to 27 companies representing 68 locations at PHX that have been recognized.
This was the 44th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards, the state’s premier sustainability event, celebrating the individuals, businesses, and organizations making a lasting impact on Arizona’s environment, economy, and communities.
