Take Off to Austin: More Flights, More Fun, More to Explore
Delta Airlines recently announced new service between Phoenix and Austin, Texas. This is in addition to service already offered by American, Frontier and Southwest. With more flights to Austin, perhaps it’s time to start planning a trip.
Austin is an energetic city with a great mix of live music, good food, and outdoor adventure. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, a significant other or solo, there is an exciting itinerary for you.
Here are some ideas:
- It may sound weird, but the Congress Avenue Bridge offers a unique experience to see more than a million bats take flight at sunset.
- If you’re a live music fan, you won’t want to miss out on performances on Sixth Street or in the Red River District.
- Austin is well known for its food. Check out local guides for restaurant recommendations or visit one of the city’s many food trucks. The city also offers a number of rooftop bars to enjoy and see great views. Whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks, Austin offers an array of options.
- If museums are your thing, check out the LBJ Presidential Library or the Bullock Texas State History Museum - popular with families. Other options include the Contemporary Austin Jones Center and the Mexic-Arte Museum.

- Visit the Texas State Capitol to see a beautiful building and learn more about the state’s history.

- Swim at Barton Springs Pool where the spring-fed temperatures are 68 degrees year-round.
- Hike the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
- Enjoy gorgeous skyline views from walking around Lady Bird Lake or take out a kayak or paddleboard.
- Take a duck tour on Lake Austin.
- Visit Mount Bonnell to experience lovely sunset views.
Austin also is convenient to Texas Hill Country where you can find many wineries and charming towns.
