Volunteers to be Recognized April 22-28
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is recognizing its dedicated volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week April 22–28. The volunteer program is a cornerstone of guest service at America’s Friendliest Airport®.
From the Navigators to the Navigator Buddies, Teen Navigators, and Navigator Chaplains, these volunteers play a key role in helping Phoenix Sky Harbor deliver a world‑class experience.
Known for their purple attire, the friendly and dedicated Navigators help guests with directions, information, and general support throughout the airport to make their travel easier and more enjoyable. Since the program’s inception in 2000, more than 1,800 volunteers have contributed 1.7 million-plus hours of service at Phoenix Sky Harbor.
Other volunteers include Navigator Buddies, a popular and warmly received therapy dog program that gives passengers the chance to interact with accredited therapy animals; Teen Navigators, high school students ages 14 and older who volunteer alongside experienced Navigators during the summer; and Navigator Chaplains, who offer spiritual comfort and guidance to those who seek it.
Applications to be a Teen Navigator are being accepted until May 15. Complete a Teen Navigator application or email navigator.staff@phoenix.gov for more information.
