Workshop for Passengers with Dementia Grows
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport hosted its award-winning Dementia Friendly Air Travel Workshop Jan. 21, giving passengers with dementia and their caregivers knowledge and support in navigating the airport experience.
Launched in 2021, the workshop offers insight from panel members who have specialized training in working with travelers with dementia as well as airport employees who can give tips and answer questions about routine airport travel. The program has grown in popularity, offering valuable guidance on preparing for air travel, security screening, and navigating the terminal with ease.
Workshops now feature in-person and virtual options, making them more accessible to attendees. The workshop brought together representatives from the airlines, TSA, and the City of Phoenix Aviation Department to share valuable information and tips while answering questions from those in attendance.
Sky Harbor remains dedicated to enhancing accessibility and ensuring a smooth journey for all passengers. The next Dementia Friendly Air Travel Workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.
