Shorty’s Sandwich Shop Keeps it in the Family
Shorty’s Sandwich Shop has built its business from a small, family-run operation to a standalone shop that distributes homemade subs and snacks to several stores through Phoenix Sky Harbor.
“We provide packaged sandwiches, salads, wraps and burritos to other vendors at the airport that have retail storefronts,” said Corey Zollinger, owner of Shorty’s.
The Phoenix-area business started small and stays small to concentrate on its products.
“We’re locally owned. It’s literally myself and my brother, and we’ve got a handful of employees that have been with us for a long time,” he said.
Starting 10 years ago, the business began as a shoestring operation with Corey making and selling sandwiches after working his day job. Now, with a commercial kitchen and a robust menu, they focus on the personal customer service that made them a local favorite.
“It’s the customer service really that we emphasize the most,” he said. “A sandwich is a sandwich: We can make it taste better than most people, just with high-quality ingredients, but really it’s the service.”
Food from Shorty’s Sandwich Shop is available at the airport in Peet's Coffee & Tea shops and in the following retail stores: 12 News, AZCentral.com, AZ essentials, Today and TripAdvisor.
