Check out WORD, the newest Phoenix Airport Museum exhibition, now on view in Terminal 4, level 3 in four display cases near the A and D gates.
WORD features four local artists who integrate letters, text and narrative elements into their artwork. In WORD, text becomes an element of art, adding texture, pattern and shape to imagery.
In each of the four display cases, you’ll also spot unconventional art materials, including upcycled storefront signs, collaged children’s books, custom-designed book covers, and even tamale wrapper paper. Each artist highlights text and typography as a key part of their creative process, whether it’s hand-painted, printed or repurposed.
