Giving to Kids the Business Model for Giving Bracelets

It’s not unusual for business owners to dream of making great profits from their services. For Giving Bracelets, a locally owned and operated jewelry making business, they dream of giving away part of their profits.

“We hand make all of our jewelry and leather goods in store, and we donate 10% of the proceeds to CASA for Children, which gives back to children in foster care,” said Camryn McCormick, store manager for Giving Bracelets.

CASA is a court-appointed special advocate for foster children, a cause the owner of Giving Bracelets holds dear to her heart. Having volunteered with CASA, she wanted to keep her hands in the organization even though her thriving new business prevented her from volunteering.

Those worlds collided in a way that benefitted both her passions.

“Our owner actually started making handbags and realized she had a lot of scraps from the handbags, and she started turning them into bracelets,” Camryn said. “She decided to start centering the business around CASA and instead give money.”

The bracelets are unique and each has its own significance.

“Each bracelet that features a stone in the middle of it will have a different meaning behind it,” she said. “Each crystal has a different energy and property.”

New businesses like Giving Bracelets are taking advantage of novel ways to get in front of the buying public. One such method, pop-up shops, are perfect for small businesses, mobile eateries and other entrepreneurs who want to create a unique shopping experience amidst a traditional brick-and-mortar setting.

Phoenix Sky Harbor hosted Meet the Local Artisans, a pop-up shop event, earlier this year to showcase local business owners for locals and visitors so merchants could connect with the traveling public.

This also gives business owners a glimpse at setting up shop in the airport, where 130,000 passengers travel through each day.

“We’re always looking to expand into different boutiques,” Camryn said. “We’re trying to put our product all over the Valley and eventually grow into other locations as well.”
