National Aviation Day Celebrated at Phoenix Airports

Aug. 19 marked National Aviation Day, a tribute to the Wright brothers’ legacy and a celebration of aviation’s ability to connect people, inspire innovation, and keep the world moving. Here in Arizona, the Phoenix Airport System plays a vital role in keeping that spirit alive. The system’s collective impact reaches $44.3 billion annually, supporting nearly 245,000 jobs across the region. Every day, more than 1,300 aircraft take off or land at PHX, carrying about 130,000 passengers, while visitors inject about $19.3 million into the local economy.

Phoenix Deer Valley Airport and Phoenix Goodyear Airport are some of the busiest general aviation airports in the United States, buzzing with flight training, business and recreational flying, aircraft maintenance and excellent facilities that help keep the entire region’s aviation network running smoothly. Together, these airports embody the excitement and impact of National Aviation Day, honoring aviation’s rich history while looking toward a future of continued connection, opportunity and adventure.
