Supporting Dementia Friendly Travel at Phoenix Sky Harbor

August 18, 2026
As part of its commitment to provide an inclusive travel environment for all travelers, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport held its latest Dementia Friendly Air Travel Workshop on July 15. Fifty‑nine people participated in the session.
Launched in 2021, the workshop brings together representatives from the airport and Transportation Security Administration. They share information and tips, and answer questions from family members and care providers about traveling with dementia. The goal is to make air travel more manageable and help travelers with dementia and their care providers feel confident throughout their journey.
Phoenix Sky Harbor was the first airport in the country to offer this workshop and was recognized by Airports Council International – North America as the best Customer Experience Program for Large Airports as part of its Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Awards in 2023. The airport thanks all participants and supporters who helped make this workshop a success. For more information, visit the Compassion Corner webpage.
