For nearly 20 years, Charlene M. has helped shape the financial backbone of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Each People @ PHX featured employee adds a vital piece to the airport puzzle, and Charlene’s piece ensures resources are in place to allow Phoenix Sky Harbor to serve the millions of travelers each year.
As an Aviation Accounting Supervisor in the Financial Management division, she oversees areas like the operating budget, rates and charges and accounts payable. Her days are spent studying figures and reviewing data to help ensure the airport has the funding needed to operate safely and efficiently.
Charlene plays a behind‑the‑scenes role that passengers never see but rely on every day. Her work supports keeping facilities clean, lights on, staff supported, and helps ensure leaders have accurate financial information to make critical decisions.
She began her career with the City of Phoenix more than three decades ago and transferred to the airport to broaden her experience. Since 2006, she has led the accounting team and strengthened the tools they depend on.
As a lifelong numbers person, Charlene enjoys the logic and clarity of financial problem‑solving.
“I enjoy seeing the airport grow year after year,” says Charlene. “It means a lot knowing my work supports that progress, and it gives me great satisfaction to know I am contributing to a system that strengthens the community.”
