America's Friendliest Airport® Celebrates Customer Appreciation Week
PHOENIX – Customer Appreciation Week is celebrated annually for the first full week of October. From airport development to multiple in-terminal programs, such as Culture Corner, Traveling Tunes, Days of Gratitude, Dementia Friendly Travel Workshops and more, Phoenix Sky Harbor goes far to enhance the travel experience for its customers and to provide exceptional customer service.
PHX serves more than 140,000 passengers and more than 1,300 flights each day, with more than 47,000 people working in and around the airport. As Phoenix Sky Harbor has grown, it has introduced various family-friendly programs and initiatives designed to elevate the traveler experience, such as:
Navigators
Last year, the volunteer Navigator program celebrated its 25th anniversary. In 2027, the Navigator Buddies therapy dog program will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Teens are also taking part in offering excellent customer service at PHX: The Teen Navigator program pairs a student at least 14 years old with an established Navigator volunteer for six weeks in the summer. The Navigator Support Guide Program is also available to assist guests who may need a bit of extra help.
Culture Corner
The Culture Corner was launched in 2025 and features monthly activities showcasing the rich diversity, creativity and cultural heritage of Arizona, bringing community organizations, performers and educators directly to travelers. The next Culture Corner is 1-3 p.m. Oct. 19, featuring art and science drawing with artist Monica Aissa Martinez. The Culture Corner is located in Terminal 3, post-security near Gate F3.
Traveling Tunes
The Traveling Tunes program provides live music performances by local artists twice a month in Terminal 3 and Terminal 4.
PHX Free Little Library
Unveiled earlier this year, the PHX Free Little Library offers books for travelers of all ages. Anyone can take a book or leave a book, creating a sense of community within the airport. The PHX Free Little Library is in the Culture Corner, Terminal 3, post-security near Gate F3.
Days of Gratitude
This seasonal program helps Phoenix Sky Harbor give appreciation to PHX travelers and customers with airport giveaways and activities throughout the terminals. It begins during a very busy travel period, ahead of Thanksgiving weekend.
Phoenix Airport Museum
The Phoenix Airport Museum’s art and exhibitions give visitors an introduction to the variety of artistic talent and cultural resources Arizona has to offer. Visitors can find art installations before and after security, as well as in the Rental Car Center and PHX Sky Train® stations.
Accessibility
As one of the busiest airports in the country, Phoenix Sky Harbor also offers a wide range of resources and amenities to help passengers with physical, hidden and other disabilities experience a smooth travel journey. This includes a twice a year, award-winning Dementia Friendly Travel Workshop, the Compassion Corner, a new partnership with ReBokeh Vision Technologies with free access to the company’s technology to assist people with low vision, and more.
Concessions
To enhance options available for customers, PHX is in the process of refreshing concessions offerings with new restaurants expected to be introduced later this year and into 2027.
Destination PHX 2050
Recently, Phoenix Sky Harbor announced Destination PHX 2050, a comprehensive development program that will guide the airport’s future capital investments. As America’s Friendliest Airport® prepares to serve an anticipated 90 million passengers by 2050, PHX continues to find new ways to enrich the traveler experience.
