PHX Welcomes Spring Travelers With Useful Airport Tips
PHOENIX – Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is preparing to welcome more passengers looking for a fun travel adventure as spring break approaches and area residents head out for school-break getaways. The Valley also is welcoming visitors for major events, including Cactus League Baseball Spring Training, NASCAR weekend in March and the 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four in early April.
With March historically being the busiest month at Phoenix Sky Harbor, America’s Friendliest Airport® is providing useful tips and reminders to help travelers enjoy a smooth airport experience.
Reserve Parking Early
Book parking in advance at skyharbor.com/parking. Spaces fill quickly during peak travel periods. Even with a reservation, allow extra time to park and reach your terminal.
Pack Smart
Review the TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page before packing to see what is and isn’t allowed in your checked and carry-on baggage. Pro tip for Cactus League fans – all baseball bats, including souvenir bats need to go in checked baggage.
Plan Ahead
Check flight status with your airline before heading to the airport, whether you’re traveling or picking up and dropping off a loved one. Arrive at least two hours early for domestic flights and three hours for international travel.
Smooth Drop-Offs and Pickups
Use the 24th Street or 44th Street PHX Sky Train® stations for free, easy access to the terminals.
Avoid Traffic Congestion
Skip circling the terminals and use one of three free 24-hour cell phone waiting lots located east of Terminal 4, west of the West Economy Garage, or at the 44th Street PHX Sky Train® Station.
Use Early Bag Check
Use this convenient option to check your bags before heading to the terminal to travel lighter and save time. Counters are located at the Rental Car Center and East Economy Parking. Learn more at skyharbor.com/EarlyBagCheck.
Going Through Security
Reserve a spot in the security checkpoint line with PHX RESERVE, a free program available in both terminals. Reservations can be made up to six days in advance.
