Volaris announces new route between Puerto Vallarta and Phoenix, Arizona with prices that make you travel
Mexico City -- Volaris (NYSE: VLRS and BMV: VOLAR), the ultra low cost Mexican airline operating in Mexico, the United States and Central America, strengthens its international expansion strategy and its commitment to unite families and stimulate commercial ties between Mexico and the United States with its new direct route between Puerto Vallarta and Phoenix, Arizona, with the lowest fares and the best service on board.
Trade between the United States and Mexico is valued at around $150 billion. In particular, Mexico is Arizona’s largest trading partner. Arizona’s two-way trade with Mexico was $15.4 billion in 2017: nearly $7.5 billion in exports and $7.9 billion in imports according to the Arizona-Mexico Commission. Phoenix is the capital of Arizona, the state’s most populous city, as well as the sixth largest U.S. city.
In addition to being trade partners, the Mexico and Arizona have a tourism partnership as well. Nearly 3.8 million people from Mexico choose Arizona as a travel destination annually, representing the largest segment of international tourism to Arizona. Tourism from Mexico accounts for the majority of all expenditures in Arizona by international visitors to the state. Tourism is equally important to Puerto Vallarta, with nearly 50% of the workforce employed in tourist related industries such as hotels, restaurants, and transportation.
Additionally, 41% of Phoenix’s total population is Hispanic. This makes Phoenix particularly important to Volaris in fulfilling its mission to unite friends and family on both sides of the border and to increase economic exchange between Mexico and the U.S. "At Volaris, we focus on the need to provide direct flight options to our customers with the best rates and on routes that, due to their strategic importance from an economic and social point of view, make them extremely attractive," said Miguel Aguiñiga, Director of Market Development and Distribution of Volaris.
The new Puerto Vallarta-Phoenix will begin operations on June 16, 2019 as follows:
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco (PVR) - Phoenix, Arizona (PHX)
